Accessibility Resources at the Library

We do! Please click the appropriate library below.

Both library locations are accessible for patrons. Here are some physical details to help you plan your visit.

  • Downtown: A lot with handicapped spaces and an accessible ramp entrance is available on the Fifth Avenue side of the library. The Fourth Avenue entrance is an accessible ramp entrance as well.
  • Ladd: Handicapped spaces are located directly in front of the building, and the entry is flat.
  • Entrance doors have automatic buttons to open.
  • The Downtown Library offers an elevator in the main common space on the first floor.
  • Signage within both libraries includes braille lettering.
  • Library aisles are wide enough to accommodate wheel chairs comfortably.

If you need assistance reading our signage in a different language, we recommend using the Google Translate app. Hold your phone camera up to library signs, and the app will translate it into your selected language.

Find the Google Translate app online here.

Anyone who requires an auxiliary aid or service for effective communication or a modification of policies or procedures to participate in a program or event should contact the library at (319) 261-7323 or info@crlibrary.org as soon as possible but no later than 48 hours before the program, meeting, or event.

DISCLAIMER

The Cedar Rapids Public Library is committed to the allocation of resources to help ensure our website is made easier to use and more accessible for people with disabilities, with the strong belief that every person has the right to live with dignity, equality, comfort and independence.

We are dedicated to continuing efforts to improve the accessibility of our website and services in the belief that it is our collective moral obligation to allow seamless, accessible, and unhindered use for those with disabilities.

Despite our efforts to make all pages and content on CRLibrary.org fully accessible, some content may not have yet been fully adapted to the strictest accessibility standards.
