Program Description
Event Details
This open house will feature an afternoon of hands-on, family-friendly STEAM activities with both the library and community partners.
Staff will be on-hand in the Technology Classroom demonstrating the library's 3D printers and giving patrons a chance to try their hand at making their own 3D object with a Doodle Pen. Attendees will be able to make personalized buttons using the library’s button makers or visit the Maker Room to watch the library’s laser cutters create unique items out of wood, metal, and acrylic. Examples of what other creators have made will be on display in the library's Skywalk Gallery.
The library will also host a Fix-It Cafe. Handy library volunteers will give live demonstrations of how to patch drywall, put in a new electric box, and basic toilet repair. Patrons will be able to ask questions of people with years of home repair experience, get lists of materials and tools, and informational resources that will empower them in doing minor home repair.
The Maker Fest is generously supported by Curiosity Sponsor Sunrise Builders.
