Join us weekly for Tango Práctica (practice), where you will learn the basic steps of Tango and grow your skills in an encouraging, welcoming group. No partner required. Smooth-soled shoes recommended.

Arts, movement, and music for youth and their caregivers. This program is geared to pre-K to second graders. 

Learn and practice the gentle forms of Tai Chi in this 12-week series with Bryan Bruner of Heritage Area Agency on Aging. Skills will build on each other from the first session to the last. 

When school is out, come to the library! Teens and tweens ages 11-18 are invited to an hour of crafts, games, free books and more. Design and make your own buttons!

Youth ages 12-18 are invited to participate in the library’s Youth Advisory Club (YAC). 

Story time activities support early literacy and foster a love of reading. Participating in activities such as story time contributes to learning, social skills, and school readiness.

Come dressed as your favorite superhero and use your super powers to complete fun challenges, activities, and crafts!  Activities will be in Beems A/B and Whipple, with a scavenger hunt in the Children's Area as well.

Builders are invited to construct and create with LEGO and KEVA blocks. Activities will include both challenges and free play. Geared towards K-5th students. 

Join us for a fun-filled story time for children ages 2-5. This high-energy story time features stories, songs, parachute play, and bubbles! 

The Between the Covers book group meets the first Tuesday of each month at 10 am. If you enjoy reading and good conversation in a relaxed atmosphere, then this is the book group for you. Anyone is welcome.

Discussion books for spring:

Teens will learn how to use the 3D printer and Tinkercad to create their own 3D designs. They'll be able to learn at their own pace and set their creative direction. 

A 15-minute story and song program for newborns to three-year-olds, followed by a 45-minute playtime. 

Join us for Dungeons & Dragons, the world renowned table top role-playing game. Our tables meet on the first and third Wednesdays each month for adventure and excitement. Bring your first-level character and be ready to dive in.

Join the all-ages meeting of the Cedar Rapids Chess Club from 5:30 to 7:30 pm weekly on Wednesdays at the Downtown Library for a relaxed, casual session playing this great universal game.

Children and caregivers are invited to a story time that is designed for attendees with multi-sensory needs including low lights, reduced sounds, and opportunities for social interaction and play.

Join the Cedar Rapids Civil Rights Commission on the second Fridays of the month to participate in an activity to celebrate our community.

Linn County Conservation will lead an introduction to the many wild edibles that grow in our area, focusing on safety, identifying a few basic plants, and ethical harvest.
