When people hold their events at the library – whether they are having a business meeting or a child’s birthday party – they don’t have to worry about their guests going hungry.

Roasters Coffeehouse, the café at the Downtown Library, is ready to cater their event, big or small.

The café offers boxed lunches, available with sandwiches or wraps and sides, along with more expansive options like tacos bars or breakfast buffets featuring items like quiche, biscuits and gravy, candied bacon, fruit, and bagels. They also have salad options and charcuterie boards, along with additional hot items such as soups and pastas. Want something else? They will work with you.

“We have done a lot of customization. We can do things that are not on our regular menu,” Roasters owner Amanda Steines said.

Steines started her coffee career as a barista at Roasters Coffeehouse in Hiawatha. When the owner there expanded the business to NewBo City Market, she managed the new location and eventually bought that portion of the business. Roasters expanded to the library in May 2021, where they serve breakfast and lunch Monday to Saturday.

Along with the coffee, tea, and smoothies that complement their food, the café offers baked goods like cookies and scones. They can also make custom treats for all occasions.

“The baker on our staff, Noor Azmah, does decorative cakes and cupcakes. She really enjoys being allowed to tap into that creative side of things,” Steines said.

The café has catered everything from corporate events and meetings to parties to a celebration of life. They are also available for weddings.

“I love the personal interactions. It’s kind of fun to be part of someone’s intimate gatherings,” Steines said. “It’s just a really beautiful thing to be a part of a birthday or a baby shower. It’s really fun to feed people and be part of those memories.”
