Event Details
A six-week Zoom series exploring art, history, and culture associated with Grant Wood, featuring presentations, Q&As, conversation, and opportunities to submit to the Iowa Grant Wood Poetry Award.
Attendance for all sessions is not required. Enjoy any or all of the sessions you choose.
Recordings of sessions will be made available on the Cedar Rapids Public Library's YouTube channel.
Sessions are on Tuesday evenings, and the starting time is Central Standard Time.

Jan. 14: "New Book Features: Model Citizens—We Posed for Grant Wood" with historian Paul C. Juhl, and "Grant Wood’s Memorial Masterpiece" with historian Barbara Feller
Jan. 21: "Beyond the Brush: Unveiling Grant Wood the Writer" with collector/writer/producer Joe Coffey
Jan. 28: "The Grant Wood Florilegium: Commonplace Notes on the Horticultural Significance, Symbolism and Meaning of the Plants Depicted in the Artist’s Works" with natural foods professional Tom Havran
Feb. 4: "New Book Talk Feature: The Stone City Author" with historical fiction author Dorothy Bunting Montgomery
Feb. 11 (Grant Wood’s birthday): "Small Treasures: The Joy of Collecting Grant Wood Ephemera" with collector/writer/producer Joe Coffey. Also enjoy poetry readings, including poems from Iowa Poetry Association’s Grant Wood Poetry Prize category.
