
Libraries are for Everyone: A Note from the Director
June 23, 2025 – When you pick up your Summer Reading kit at the library this year (and we hope you do), it will come with a tote that says “Libraries are for Everyone.”
Both locations of the library will be closed on Friday, July 4th.

June 4, 2025 – Everyone is welcome at the library this summer – and everyone is welcome to join us for the Summer Reading Challenge. Summer reading is for kids and families – but it is also for everyone else!
May 15, 2025 – The Summer Reading Challenge welcomes a series of big performances for kids to the library on Mondays throughout June and July. All performances are first-come, first-serve; wrist bands will be handed out one hour prior to each performance.

Summer is here, and that means the Summer Reading Challenge is underway at the Cedar Rapids Public Library.
June 10, 2024 – Amber Hansen is more than a singer-songwriter – she's also a music teacher at Prairie Hill Elementary in the College Community School District.
June 3, 2024 – The Cedar Rapids Public Library welcomes everyone to the library this Pride Month and beyond. The library is celebrating LGBTQ+ Pride with events and curated book lists.
Dec. 18, 2023 – Patron Services Specialist Michele Prostine runs the Books By Mail program for the library which delivers books, audiobooks, and movies to homebound patron’s homes.
Children’s musician Tom Pease was busy one recent afternoon, tending to the maple syrup he was making in his Wisconsin kitchen. But he wasn’t too busy to talk about one of his true passions – making music, and joy, for generations of children.
The library's big summer performance series is underway. In the coming weeks, there will be music, magic, storytelling, live animals, and even interactive dinosaurs, all of it free and open to all ages.
The library is adding more story times to our schedule, just in time for summer.
We have big things planned for you at the library this summer.
